Encouraging News for ONE-SHOT! (Update)

November 24th, 2010

Wow, it’s been 4 months since we launched this website and finally we have some news to share with you. Let me start from the beginning… at the moment ONE-SHOT is the effort/result of my family, IGVP, and my NGO team, but since my family and I are on a break in our home country, it’s been difficult to keep working on the details of this project. The reason? We have to be in Iraq in order to decide most of the things, and that won’t happen until next February. So, for example, we haven’t had an opportunity to work on choosing the group of children that we want to work with in 2011. That will have to wait until we get back to the field.

But even though that’s been challenging, we have some good news to share. We have already received some gear to use at ONE-SHOT. The following list contains the donated gear:

1 FinePix S9500
1 Canon Ixus 75
1 Canon 350D
1 Nikon Camera D70
1 Pentax Camera 18-55
1 Nikkor Lens (AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 IF-ED)
1 Nikkor Lens (AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 ED)
1 Tamron Aspherical Lens (Af 28-200 f/3.8-5.6)
1 Tamron Lens (28-70mm)
1 Tamron Lens (70-300mm)
1 1GB flash drive
1 2GB Flash Card
3 512MB memory cards
-June 2011-
2 Camera bags
1 Canon G2
1 Nikkor Lens 20mm AI-S
17 CF Cards (16 GB total)

All this gear has come from the following countries:

Aruba
France
Belgium
Taiwan
USA

The growing list of donors is:
Nestor Lacle
Reveau Antoine
Serge Van Cauwenbergh
Jake Slater
Peter Drubetskoy
Gary S. Chapman

We have 4 photographers that have asked to volunteer for this project.
(We don’t want to disclose their names until we have come up with a good plan for their work among the children at ONE-SHOT)

We have 2 top-photographers that want to come and give the children a small workshop.
(Once we have confirmed their attendance and dates we’ll publish their names)

Well, I hope this will encourage others to join this wonderful initiative. We are so thankful to each of the donors and people that have been spreading this news. We want to also thank our partners at IGVP for their generosity and support, because without you guys we wouldn’t be here!
Please keep using our social media links (below) to continue sharing our vision.

The last thing I want to share is the following video. This video was made by the guys at “Discover the Journey“, and talks about the unheard crisis of orphans in Iraq. Pay attention to it. More than 4,000,000 million of orphans are in Iraq. Hopefully ONE-SHOT will be one of the projects helping these children in Iraq.
