ONE-SHOT: Summer School

July 22nd, 2012

The 2012 Workshops are finished, the cameras and image files put away, and by Thursday all of our international volunteers will have returned home. But that’s not the end of ONE-SHOT 2012!

Some of our students were so disappointed at the end of the classes, and so eager to learn, that we’re continuing to work with them through the summer. We’ve started a weekly ‘photo club’. Each meeting involves either teaching through a lesson or critiques, and the students keep their cameras for a couple days to have more time to practice making images in their day-to-day lives.

This week we’re showing you work from Bilal. He did a really fantastic job of illustrating the lesson from last week (using techniques to direct the viewer’s eye in an image).

It’s really nice to be able to work with some of our students is this slower-paced format. While Bilal made perfectly fine images during the Workshop, his current images, made after he had learned the basics and now had time to spend in his own space, are much better.
