Look out LA! Developing Change is on!
March 18th, 2013
Such good news! After a bit of a delay and change in venue, the drkrm gallery is launching Developing Change: Photography with a Humanitarian Focus on April 20th. This will be the first gallery exhibit of our students’ work outside of Kurdistan, so we’re super excited!
There are several ways that you can help support this exhibit (which will contribute to the work of a number of excellent projects.
-if you’re in or near Los Angeles, please visit the exhibit! And send us photos! We’re all in Chile right now, and a little too far away to take in the show. Of course, we’d love it if you bought some art there too.
-if you have friends or contacts in LA, please spread the word about the exhibit. It don’t know if the show will have a guest book, but it would be amazing if there was a guest book filled with Kurdish names.
One of the things that is so amazing about the show that drkrm gallery has put together is that it represents real change in the lives of real people. Children who didn’t know they were artists now know. Folks who thought they were volunteering and “giving back” found their lives forever changed by what they received. We are completely convinced that art (and in this case photography) can change lives, communities, and the world. It’s empowering to be in the company of others who feel the same way.
